Generation Medicine is a new/old way of experiencing life
All ages jam in the wilds of North Carolina.
Sparking hope
I’m a catalyst for sparking aliveness and hope in people. By channeling boundless joy and possibility into my work, I help others reorient their lives in remarkable ways.
Over the years I’ve co-created (yes, I live to collaborate) a series of unique events to gather curious and willing humans around the globe. From YESway in Bali, WEvolve in Toronto, Edgewalkers in Quebec to GenMedicine in North Carolina—these are no ordinary events. They seed profound bonds. Ones that last a lifetime.
As my friend and mentor Phil (picture below) shared, “Hope, you’re our Catalytic Converter”.
I’ll take that.
This post below is my gust of excitement around a growing seed you’re going want to tap into.
Generation Medicine - Where did it come from?
For decades, I've sought wisdom and connection from people of all ages, backgrounds, and energies. At first, I wasn't clear about the reason behind my incessant need to sync up with people of all ages. Then it hit me. The intergenerational bonds offer me hope for our future.
What I have gleaned is simple.
Those who have lived longer see their life journey with a clarity that connects all the dots. The seemingly disjointed paths, obstacles, and triumphs all come together in a beautiful, coherent picture.
The clarity and wisdom that grounded elders bring offer us a valuable pause.
Being in their presence reminds us we too can nurture what I affectionately call the 'trust fund'. A fund that nudges us to slip into flow rather than holding on too tightly.
It reminds us younger humans that life is a great mystery—unfolding exactly as it needs to.
This collective Generation Medicine (GenMedicine) is a tonic we—young, old, and middling are all longing for.
How does GenMedicine Relate To You?
You're a busy person so I'll cut to the chase.
In a world that often feels fragmented and fast-paced, this type of human generated medicine offers a rare and profound opportunity to connect across the ages.
GenMedicine gatherings are not just an event; rather a journey into the heart of human connection. A place where the wisdom of elders meets the curiosity of youth, creating a powerful exchange that enriches us all.
If you long for deeper connections, a sense of belonging, and the timeless wisdom that only intergenerational gatherings can offer, then GenMedicine is a possible sanctuary.
As a coach, I am astounded at the level of personal transformation that can come from attending this unique format of gathering. Yup. I’m sold.

A wise elders shares his experience
Imagine a curated crew of adventurers, poets, and activators of all ages—synchronizing beyond our usual points of reference. The medicine is created through these connections. We catalyze, simmer, and infuse a medicine exchange across generations. With the power of music, spoken word, and conversation, we create a counterpoint to isolation and division, aiming to restore the social and spiritual bonds that modern life has put at risk.
This gathering held at Highland Lake Cove in North Carolina was the beginning of an annual rhythm I will be tending to from now on. It was a solstice to remember for 2024!
What happens at these GenMedicine events?
We gathered under the full moon, spanning ages 7 to 92. Our theme? "In lakesh, a la kesh" – I am you, you are me.
The bonds forged were deeply nourishing, embracing the timeless practice of gathering all ages, just as our ancestors did.
Sauntering is the busy antidote. We sauntered through the lush landscapes of the Blue Ridge Mountains, inspired by Henry David Thoreau’s gentle advice to “saunter” rather than hike. This was more than just a walk in the woods—it was a soulful journey into ‘timeless’ Kairos, leaving the linear world of Chronos time behind.
Play was central to our experience. Who better to teach us than the children in our group? Their joy and spontaneity reminded us of the power of play, imagination, and connection. They showed us how to smile, to try the new without fear, and to be fully present.
Right of passage for all ages. One of participants, David Penberg shared how the GenMedicine Gathering gave him the space and spark to truly step into his elder role.
“I drank from the Genmedicine water and came back an elder. A sauntering elder. I arrived on the verge of a threshold.”
Our GenMedicine retreat was initiatory, aligning perfectly with the solstice and the full moon. We all felt it opened a doorway between worlds.
New lifelong relationships were sparked over nourishing meals and our Generations Over Dinner (hat tip to Chip Conley for sparking this initiative) hosted by Highland Lake Cove and MC’d by me and Julian.
We delved into powerful themes:
Letting go to move forward.
Understanding our place in the world.
Releasing old patterns to embrace new growth.
Contemplating the legacy we wish to leave behind.
As we embraced the magic of these moments, we found ourselves fortified, feeling an expansive sense of possibility and deep gratitude. It feels like a seed has been planted within us, one that will grow and flourish in ways yet to be determined.
As Roger Bass shared,
“I woke up this morning with this running through my head:
Generation Medicine experiences people of different ages interacting in the moment with compassion and deep listening. Middle, young and mature people share wisdom, fun and enthusiasm. Generation Medicine is a new/old way of experiencing life. I need therapy of Generation Medicine on a daily basis to fully express my true nature.”
Even Dr. Joe Dispenza agrees - The presence of the elderly around our youth can profoundly shape and enrich their minds.
