Dear Reader,
I’m thrilled you’ve landed here as I begin a new journey to pulse out the SPARKS I’m sourcing and collaborating on. My goal is to leave you with new ideas, new people to explore and hopeful optimism in our ever shifting world.
Before I kick off the weekly shares, I thought I’d offer context into who I am and my unique approach to supporting change. This fascination with transformation has been seeded in me for as long as I can remember.
I can trace back to when I realized I was here to spark change in our world when I was about six years old. I remember a feeling that there was a big world out there to explore—inside and out. It struck me. I had to do something about it. This led me on an odyssey at the age of 8 to a boarding school in England. It was my foray into independent thinking that has remained with me today.
Since that first jump, I have continued to cultivate a spirit of curiosity, quirk and independence. This spirit has literally pulsed me around the globe on a mission to navigate the world of change. From opening a bar in Laos, living in Bangkok running education programs, to numerous global start ups in Agtech, Ethical Fashion, Education, Mindfulness, and Ai, I have translated an entrepreneurial flair into diverse ventures, becoming adept at finding and amplifying the pulse of ideas. In the last two decades, I have immersed myself in start-ups, and coaching motivated individuals and teams. With nature as my guide, I love to draw parallels between business and a delicate, collective beehive.
Work isn’t my only focus. As a devoted mum, I have taken my two children on many a global adventure, lived in various countries abroad, and worked closely with Alfie and Sophia to innovate their learning and development. They’re two of my greatest teachers.
As I embark on this adventure of weekly writing, I zero’d in on two reasons why I’m doing this.
Two reasons:
I am a super connector and love people. I have seen how important it is to connect the dots between remarkable people working in innovation around the world. It’s easy to slot into our specialized silos and get locked in echo chambers of the sea of sameness. Being able to sync up multi-age people from around the globe in all sectors and landscapes has enabled new collaborations and ideas to spark. Networks breed innovation, but they also require a firecracker (like me) to help to nurture and grow them into supportive systems.
Small and meaningful sparks can go a long way. It’s the little moves that make some of the biggest changes happen. I’ve seen it. When we commit to a regular practice, we demonstrate that we matter to ourselves. This is huge. I love to lead by example of what’s possible. Which also means failing forward, fumbling, experimenting and having wild success. I am constantly inspired by the ideas, new paradigms and energy being activated by brave humans. So, I figure this is one of my ways of showing up to share stories, ideas, and new pathways for you all in hope that some small part will help your big shift.
"Over the next century, scholars and fans aided by computational algorithms, will knit together the books of the world into a single networked literature. A reader will be able to generate a social graph of an idea, or timeline of a concept, or a networked map of influence for any notion in the library. We'll come to understand that no work, no idea, stands truly alone, but that all good true and beautiful things are networks, ecosystems of intertwined parts, related entities and similar works" - Kevin Kelly - Editor Wired Magazine
